The Kyzyltau Sanctuary

13 April 2026 36

The Kyzyltau Sanctuary is an invaluable natural treasure, and its crowning glory is the majestic argali.

The argali is one of the rare animals listed in the Red Data Book of Kazakhstan. The mountain ranges and vast steppes of the Kyzyltau region serve as the natural habitat for these noble creatures. Today, thanks to constant monitoring by sanctuary staff and dedicated nature conservation measures, the argali population is steadily increasing.

In line with these efforts, N. Aityshev, a junior researcher at the Bayanaul National Park, and B. Alimbekov, a game management specialist, conducted a joint monitoring mission as part of a scientific research project to study argali habitats.

This achievement is a tangible result of conservation work and a key indicator of the preservation of our land’s rich biodiversity. The argali of Kyzyltau are the pride of our region and a legacy for future generations.
